Are there ever any public shootings done by the govt?

You know how in NIkita or any other govt show the agents are all over the place and in public there always shooting? I was wondering if stuff like that happens done by the cia or fbi and their agents and just covered up somehow so the news doesnt report it ... but wouldnt people be suspicious?
